Pigmentation is a common skin concern. There are hyperpigmentations that are caused by an overproduction of melanin and hypopigmentations that are the result of a sub-production. Overproduction is triggered by several factors, such as sun exposure, genetic factors, age, hormone changes and skin damage or inflammation. Hypopigmentation can be due to genetics, burns, chemical influences (products), infections, acne or diseases.
